Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree in English literature. Mitchell was employed as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. Mitchell joined CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She was hired by NBC News Washington two years after that as general reporter. From 1981 onwards she began covering the White House. In 1988 she was named the chief reporter for Congress. She was made the chief White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV program Meet the Press and also hosted the program. She participated as a member of a panel discussion at the 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell covered for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable reports over the years, including budget reform, tax reform and an investigation into the Iran Contra saga. She travelled extensively along with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
